Willkommen in Manila

Schon beim Einchecken in Frankfurt wusste jeder, wohin die Reise ging - Manila! Unser Koffer fiel auf. Nach 18 Stunden Flug, einem Stopp in Kuweit und einem in Bangkok, sind wir wohlbehalten aber müde am vergangenen Samstag in Manila angekommen. Gleich nach der Ankunft hat sich unser Team aufgeteilt: zwei sind im Set Free Center (Drogenreha), zwei in Noah's Ark (Babyhaus) und vier im Father's House (Kinderhaus).

Already upon check-in at Frankfurt Airport everybody knew about our destiation - Manila! Our suitcase gave a clear sign. After an 18-hour-flight, one stop in Kuweit and one in Bangkok, we arrived in Manila last Saturday - safe but very tired. Immediately our team split into three groups: two went to the Set Free Center (drug rehab), two to Noah's Ark (baby house), and four to the Father's House (kids house).


Das ist ein Teil der Father's House Family - um genau zu sein: die Teenie-WG. Vier Mädels, zwei Jungs, eine junge Mutter mit Baby bevölkern das eine Haus auf dem Father's House-Grundstück. Sie alle kommen teilweise von der Straße oder aus sehr kaputten Familien und haben im Father's House Zuflucht gefunden. Was einst kaputt war, macht Gott Schritt fuer Schritt heil. Wir haben einen Gott, der Wunder tut und vom Tod errettet! Und genau das ist im Leben unserer Teenies zu sehen und das erzählen sie auch selbst weiter. Von der Teenie-WG aus gehen wir in die verschiedenen Teile Manilas und machen Einsätze. Häufig sind wir in irgendeinem Slum zu finden. Alle sind mit Freude und Begeisterung dabei - das steckt an und hilft uns über unseren Jetlag hinweg.

This is part of the Father's House family. Actually it's the teenager communiy. Four girls, two boys, and a young mother with her baby live in the house of the Father's House estate. Most of them lived on the streets or come frome broken families. They found refuge in the Father's House. And what once was broken, God is healing step by step. We know a God, who is doing miracles and saves from death! And that's obvious in the lives of these teenagers, and they share it themselves with their mates. The teenager community is the center from where we go on outraches to different parts of Manila. Mostly we are going to slum areas. All our friends join us and are excited - and that's infectuous and helps us to overcome our jetlag.


Und das sind einige der Kinder, die im zweiten Father's House leben. Hinter den kleinen Rackern versteckt sich so manche dramatische Geschichte. Derzeit haben wir 13 Kinder im Alter von 5 bis 14 Jahren, darunter auch 5 Vollwaisen. Die Liebe der Mitarbeiter ist ihnen sicher, auch wenn sie so manchen verzapfen. Langweilig wird's hier nie - irgendjemand hat bestimmt eine tolle Idee, um Kuya Valerio, Ate Ruth, Ate Sarah (s. Bilder) und Ate Ilona sowie Tita Mirja und Tita Susanne (beide sind langjährige Mitarbeiterinnen) auf Trab zu halten.

These are some of the kids, who are living in the second Father's House on the estate. These little ones harbour some very dramatic life stories. At the moment there are 13 children between the ages of 5 and 14 years in the Father's House, amongst them 5 orphans. All of them can count on the love of the staff, though they have lots of ideas of how to drive you crazy at times. It's never getting boring - someone always has a good idea and keeps Kuya Valerio, At Ruth, Ate Sarah (see pictures) and Ate Ilona as well as Tita Mirja and Tita Susanne (both are long-term staff) busy all the time.


Unser Tag fängt um 5:oo h morgens an. Dann werden die ersten geweckt, für die Schule fertig gemacht ... und per Tricycle dorthin transportiert. Den ganzen Tag über herrscht ein Kommen und Gehen, Hausaufgaben machen, spielen, Spaß haben, trösten und jede Menge Lachen. Ach ja, neben den Mitarbeitern und Kids zählen auch noch Lucky (der verschmuste Wachhund) und Little Chicken (Miahs Kücken) zur Father's House Familie.

Our days start at 5:00 h in the morning. That's when we have to wake the first kids and get them ready for school ... they drive there by tricycle. All day long there is a coming and going, doing homework, playing games, having fun, comforting the children and laughter. Besides the staff and the kids there is also Lucky (the dog) and Little Chicken (Miah's chicken), who belong to the Father's House family.

Ruth: Ich find's hier voll cool ... das Wetter, ich mag die Kinder und das Essen ist auch nicht schlimm! Alles ist gut - mir fällt gar nichts Negatives ein! Ach ja, ich habe hier zum ersten Mal in meinem Leben öffentlich Zeugnis gegeben. Ich war zwar voll aufgerecht, weil ich nicht wusste, was ich sagen sollte, aber es ist super gelaufen. (Ich hasse aber Fotos.)

Ruth: I love it here ... the weather, I like the children, and even the food is good! Everything is great - I cannot think of one single negative! One thing: I gave publicly testimony for the first time in my Christian life. I was so nervous, because I didn't know what to say, but it was great. (However, I hate being photographed.)


Das sind einig unserer Freunde aus dem Slum, wo wir jede Woche Einsätze machen. Die Kids sind immer offen und freuen sich riesig, wenn wir kommen. Sie haben unsere Herzen im Sturm erobert und es ist gar nicht schwer zu evangelisieren (das ist für jeden etwas)!

Some of our friends from the slums, whom we visit every week. The kids are always open and are always looking forward to our visits. They have taken our hearts just like that, and it's easy to evangelize (everybody can do that)!


Ein Jeepney - das ur-philippinische Transportmittel. Da passt immer noch einer mehr rein als man denkt! Sehr wichtig!!! Und genauso wichtig sind auch unsere Zivis:
