Hello, this is Noah's Ark. Well, this is no refuge for animals, but a place where babies and little children are welcome, taken good care of and where they receive a good load of prayer every day. We are closely cooperating with the Department of Social Welfare and Development. The aim is not to keep the children here on a long-term basis but to refer them to adoptive families or re-unite them with their families. Unfortunately, the latter doesn't always work out.

I am Tanja from Switzerland, and I am a second-term student at the S.E.M. in Luedenscheid, Germany. A few weeks before we left for Manila, Ernst & Christine Trachsel, the leaders of Noah's Ark, visited our team. I was deeply moved by what they shared with us and that moment I made a decision: I want to go to Noah's Ark and help. The little ones are so cute, however, the work is very intense and it costs quite a bit of strength and power (and sleep). One cannot switch children off. I am especially excited about the fact that the children are not just confined in Noah's Ark and somehow looked after, but that the staff is doing everything in order to make sure that they have a future.
So what did we hear? And how come that the little ones find their way to Noah's Ark? It's not rare that mothers leave their children in the hospital, where they gave birth. The reasons vary a lot. Sometimes a baby is lying somewhere and the mothers, who left it, hopes that someone finds it and will take good care. But there are also other cases! The media published reports of babies that were thrown out of a window. In another case a young girl was on her way to hospital and gave birth in a taxi. She threw the baby out of the window of the running car. Those children could have survived, because there was enough space in Noah's Ark.

This is our newest baby. The little girl was only two weeks old and weighted 1.8 kg, when she came to us approx. 10 days ago. The department of social affairs brought her to us. She is developing very well and has already gained weight. It's great to watch her getting better every day.

These are bother and sister. Both are very lively kids. Even though they are still quite small, they exactly know what they want. It's the same in the Philippins as anywhere in Europe and the world.

Hello up there!
